I'm frequently approached by customers who ask me why their "fast" computer (defined as one with a fast chip) runs so poorly. Of course, there are a myriad of reasons - spyware, viruses, corruption, too many apps running in the system tray, etc. But I'm frequently surprised when I find another answer: bottle-necking.
